Meet the Far Horizons Team: Innovation Engineered for Impact
You don’t get to the moon by being a cowboy. At Far Horizons, we believe breakthrough achievement requires systematic discipline, not reckless experimentation. Our team brings together two decades of technology leadership, global perspective from 50+ countries, and proven methodologies refined across enterprises and startups to help organizations navigate the AI revolution with confidence.
Our Leadership: Experience That Moves Innovation Forward
Luke Chadwick - Founder & Principal Consultant
At the helm of Far Horizons is Luke Chadwick, a New Zealand-born engineer and entrepreneur who has spent over twenty years bridging the gap between emerging technology and human need—from fifty-three countries and counting.
Luke’s approach to innovation is distinctive. While most consultants offer advice from conference rooms, he’s been building solutions in the field since before “digital nomad” entered common parlance. His philosophy is deceptively simple: the most interesting problems are always somewhere else, and the best way to understand emerging technology is to experience it from multiple contexts.
Career Highlights:
Luke co-founded REALABS at REA Group (2014-2018), Australia’s largest property portal, where he pioneered 3D scanning and VR technology in Australian real estate. Under his leadership:
- Grew Matterport 3D tour adoption from 0% to 5-6% of Australian property listings
- Achieved 95% higher email inquiries and 140% more phone reveals for properties with 3D tours
- Launched the world’s first VR property portal on Google Daydream
- Established partnerships with Matterport, Valve, and HTC, demonstrating VR to hundreds of real estate professionals
Following the Fast Water:
“I’ve always followed the fast water,” Luke explains. “Right now, that’s LLMs. Five years ago it was 3D scanning. Five years from now it’ll be something else.”
This isn’t opportunism—it’s methodology. The fast water is where capability and application haven’t yet met, where problems are hardest, and where potential impact is greatest.
After leaving REA Group in 2018, Luke didn’t stop working—he started moving. What began as experimentation in location-independent work evolved into a deliberate philosophy: post-geographic operations. By constantly changing contexts—geographic, cultural, economic—he forces himself to see familiar technologies through unfamiliar lenses.
Recent Leadership:
- Interim technical leadership for a mid-market auto parts management company: Brought two decades of technical leadership to guide the organization through a critical growth phase
- Long-term consulting with a leading European automotive marketplace: From building 360° car photography solutions to ongoing AI/ML implementation and strategic advisory
- Strategic advisor to multiple AI startups: Helping teams navigate LLM implementation, architecture decisions, and MVP scoping
Technical Excellence:
Luke’s technical breadth spans full-stack web development, infrastructure as code, mobile apps, VR experiences, and LLM integration. His current stack includes SvelteKit, React, Next.js, Flutter, GraphQL, Postgres, and AI models from OpenAI and Anthropic—but he values pragmatism over dogma.
The Personal Touch:
Luke’s constant companion is Miles, an English Cocker Spaniel who has accumulated more passport stamps than most tech executives. Miles has been traveling with Luke for several years, crossing Europe by train, ferry, and occasionally plane.
“Miles changed how I travel,” Luke says. “I prefer trains now when possible. You see more that way.” The dog has become an unexpected ambassador in coworking spaces and coffee shops across three continents. “People who might not talk to the guy staring at his laptop will absolutely stop to pet the dog. And suddenly you’re having a conversation about what they do, what problems they’re facing.”
Core Values:
Luke’s approach to work and life is grounded in transformation and challenge:
“The most important thing is this: to be able at any moment to sacrifice what we are, for what we could become.” — Charles du Bos
This philosophy—embracing change, challenging assumptions, and continuously evolving—permeates everything Far Horizons does.
Our Team: Small, Agile, Systematically Excellent
Far Horizons operates with a small core team—typically between two and several people depending on active projects—scaling through collaboration rather than headcount. This strategic design enables rapid decision-making, direct client collaboration with senior practitioners, flexible scaling through trusted collaborators, and asynchronous operations across time zones.
Everyone on the Far Horizons team either writes code, reviews code, or directly shapes technical decisions. No account managers who’ve never deployed a production system. No strategists who can’t read a pull request.
Post-Geographic Operations:
We’re not “remote” from anything. We’re exactly where we need to be. Operating from Estonia through the e-residency program, Far Horizons leverages digital infrastructure built for a post-geographic world—enabling our team to focus on what matters: solving client problems and shipping working solutions.
Our Expertise: Where Technology Meets Real-World Impact
AI & Large Language Models
Our team specializes in turning LLM potential into production reality through RAG pipelines, AI governance frameworks, prompt engineering training, and workflow automation that delivers measurable ROI.
We focus on immediate problems: customer support that never sleeps, data analysis that used to take weeks, content generation that scales. “Most companies don’t need science fiction,” Luke notes. “They need working tools.”
Full-Stack Development & Infrastructure
Twenty years of building creates deep technical foundations across modern web applications (Next.js, React, SvelteKit), mobile development (Flutter), backend architecture (GraphQL, Postgres, Rails), and infrastructure (Docker, Terraform, AWS).
Emerging Technology Integration
Our track record spans VR/AR development (Unity3D, spatial computing), 3D scanning and visualization (Matterport, 360° platforms), and computer vision applications.
Innovation Methodologies
As students of agile and lean, we challenge teams to establish product-market fit before building. Our systematic approach combines 50-point technology assessments, rapid prototyping, systematic risk evaluation, and measurable outcomes over theoretical possibilities.
What Makes Our Team Different
Global Perspective, Practical Application
Luke has worked across 53 countries over seven years. This isn’t tourism—it’s methodology.
“You start to notice patterns you couldn’t see before,” he explains. “In Melbourne, everyone’s solving the same five problems. In Buenos Aires, they’re solving completely different problems. Some of those problems are the same problems Melbourne will have in five years.”
This geographic diversity creates pattern recognition that single-location teams can’t develop. An AI tool that seems obvious in Silicon Valley might be irrelevant in rural Thailand—but the problems people face in rural Thailand might reveal applications Silicon Valley hasn’t imagined.
Show, Don’t Tell
Our team operates on a demonstration-first philosophy. Whether bringing Matterport to Australian real estate or creating LLM Adventure as a hands-on learning tool, we believe you can’t teach people to swim by reading about swimming.
“People have trouble visualizing what you’re describing,” Luke says. “You have to show them it works.” This approach enabled us to rescue a white-labeled AR platform for a European automotive client in just four months by first demonstrating the problem was solvable, then building confidence to commit resources.
Risk-Aware Innovation
We’re keenly aware that every powerful technology is dangerous. The same systems that can automate customer support can automate misinformation. The same models that analyze data can perpetuate bias.
“That’s not a reason to avoid it,” Luke emphasizes. “It’s a reason to be careful with it.”
Our team helps companies think through not just how to implement LLMs, but whether they should, and what safeguards are necessary. We bring discipline to innovation.
Continuous Learning
Our team maintains extensive knowledge systems and reflects regularly on successes and failures. Twenty years of building has taught us that product-market fit is crucial, technical soundness doesn’t guarantee market demand, and innovation in large companies faces different challenges than startups.
Our Client Approach: Embedded Partnership
When you work with Far Horizons, you’re not getting PowerPoint recommendations. You’re getting embedded partnership with people who write production code alongside your team.
Our engagements include:
4-6 Week LLM Residency Sprints: Embedded delivery of working RAG pipelines, workflow automation, prompt engineering training, AI governance frameworks, and production-ready solutions.
Innovation Field Lab: VR/AR prototyping, Matterport deployment strategy, partner scouting, and frontier technology audits.
Interim Technical Leadership: Fractional CTO support, engineering guidance, technology stack decisions, and build vs. buy recommendations.
Post-Geographic Operations: Remote transformation playbooks, async workflow design, compliance setup, and location-independent infrastructure.
Education & Community: LLM Adventure
One of our team’s contributions to the AI ecosystem is LLM Adventure—a free interactive game teaching prompt engineering through fantasy quests. Players choose a character class and complete challenges by crafting effective prompts, discovering techniques like few-shot learning through hands-on experience.
“It started as an internal tool,” Luke explains. “We needed a way to teach prompt design that wasn’t boring documentation.” Hundreds of developers have learned by doing rather than reading.
