🇺🇦 Stand with Ukraine — how to help

About

Luke Chadwick · Berlin

Twenty-five years of shipping software: VR in 2014 and AR in 2016 at REA Group in Melbourne, where I co-founded REALABS; production LLM systems since 2022, for Scout24, AutoScout24 and others. Far Horizons OÜ is the company — Tallinn on paper, Berlin in practice, independent since 2019.

Most of how I think about technology comes from near-term sci-fi — Gibson, Stephenson, Doctorow, Suarez. The reading list is a post.

2001

2004

Started the blog at vertis.io.

2012–17

REA Group, Melbourne. Co-founded REALABS in 2014 — brought Matterport 3D scanning, VR and drones into Australian real estate, and measured what they changed.

2018

Went nomad — 58 countries over the following years, most of them with Miles.

2019

Incorporated Far Horizons OÜ in Tallinn. Early engagement: rebuilding an automotive AR capture pipeline in four months after the vendor failed mid-contract.

2022

First LLM systems into production — Scout24, AutoScout24 and other platform teams. Built with the teams, then handed over.

2026

Settled in Berlin. Merged vertis.io into this site.

How I work

I write code with your team

Advice I can't implement myself is just opinion.

You own it when I leave

No dependency by design, and no account manager waiting to upsell.

Small on purpose

One or two clients at a time. You get the person you met.

Remote-first, EU hours

On site when it earns the travel, remote when it doesn't.
